Katie Kilbourn, LCSW (she/they)
About Me: I believe that the therapeutic relationship lies at the core of healing and learning. I strive to create trusting, respectful, and nourishing relationships with my clients. I aim to engage in compassionate, anti-oppressive, evidence based practice by standing alongside clients and recognizing their expertise in their own experiences. I collaborate with clients to establish personalized treatment goals and plans, and I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including psychodynamic techniques, Polyvagal Theory, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and strengths-based Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients achieve their goals.
I have experience working with adults across the lifespan, from 18 to mid-80s. I whole-heartedly believe there are opportunities to grow and learn about yourself at any age! I typically work with adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, and grief and loss. I am particularly interested in working with LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and women-identified people.
Central to my work is the idea that therapy is a place to embrace the full range of emotional expression. There will be days where we explore painful feelings and memories, but there’s a good chance we’ll also laugh… a lot! Life is complex, and I’m here to witness and explore it with you.
